Standards

How our content is produced

Health content gets read by people in hard moments. These are the rules we hold ourselves to when writing it.

Sourcing

Medical claims follow authoritative primary sources — SAMHSA, NIDA, FDA, CDC, NIH resources such as MedlinePlus, and New Jersey government health sources — and every educational page lists its sources at the bottom. We do not cite what we haven't checked, and we never fabricate a citation, a statistic, or an outcome figure. Where evidence is mixed or emerging (fentanyl withdrawal timelines are a live example), we say so rather than rounding up to certainty.

Attribution and review

Content is written and maintained by the TomsRiverDetox.com editorial team. When an article has been reviewed by a licensed clinician, it says so by name and credential, with the review date. When it hasn't, it doesn't — we do not invent reviewers, experts, or credentials, and the absence of a review line means exactly what it appears to mean. Published and updated dates appear on articles, and substantive changes update the date.

Three standing rules shape everything here: we never advise anyone to abruptly stop alcohol or benzodiazepines; emergency guidance (911 and 988) always outranks our phone number wherever dangerous symptoms are discussed; and we plainly state what this site is — an educational resource, not a treatment facility. Who answers our phone line is disclosed on every page that shows it.
